Art Marketing and Promotion on the Internet
Links
I will now expand upon the topic of links. Besides engaging your fellow artists
here is a list of suggestive additional sources that can assist you in expanding
your visibility on the Internet
- Search for the following local, regional, state wide organizations that
provide a " Free
Means" of listing Artists, Galleries, & Art Organizations. Their terms of
engagement simply request that you link back to their site.
1-) Local Art Councils, Organizations, Art Commissions, or Business directories.
2-) Artists Open Studios event organizations. These artist organizations
normally open up their home or public studios once or twice a year. Its a great
way for the public to view and deal directly with the artist. At the same time
its an opportunity for the artist to gain new visibility and begin gathering
names for a mailing list, that can be used during the year to send various
announcements. Including where the artist may be exhibiting or announcing a
release of a new art work. Local Art Walk events are another means of increasing
your local visibility.
3-) Take the time to search the Internet for "Art Directories or Virtual on Line
Art Galleries" that are "Free" and here again simply request you link back to them.
There are two types of Link Exchange formats via these examples:
- Text Link exchange example:
Sausalito
Art Galleries
- Sausalito, is well known for being an Art Mecca in Northern California.
Now, it has become a leading Virtual Art Community, in the San Francisco Bay
Area, bringing the talents and works of Local, American, and International
Artists to this new "Internet Medium."
-
Graphic Banner/Link Exchange example:
In this example by clicking on the photograph it automatically takes you to the
linked website. I suggest for artists that they chose one of their art works, to
be used in this method.
Be sure to affix your web address to the facial of the photo.
Remember to have a links page on your website, for all of this to work for you
in using other art related websites, as marketing alliance/link partners. These
associates become networking partners who afford you exposure in demographics
that you normally are not found.
Important:
Incoming links to your website will add to the improvement in your Page Ranking,
and the higher the page ranking number the higher your site will be listed in
response to queries that relate to you, your art category etc.
4-) The alternative to the aforementioned is to search for "On line Art
Services" that are fee based and have significant art presence on the Internet
and are like "Franchising" where they promote you and your works of art in
demographic regions that you normally would not have a presence.
- When considering these organizations look at their page ranking, demographics
they cover, content i.e. bio/profile and number of photos that will be
displayed. Also, inquire as to their fee's and if they take a broker or
commission fee.
Remember This:
Being a member of any "Art Community, Virtual On Line Gallery" affords you an
opportunity to be viewed. Because, a person who queried the search engine for
one set of keywords or interests, that brought them to the "Community" will say
to themselves "As long as I have this diversified community before me, why not
take a look at other artists and art works." Thus increasing your exposure.
- Beware of the infamous emails that tell you that they "For A Fee" will get you
a top ten listing within the major search engines. Historically services as such
are viewed as "Link/Spam Farms." Because for the most part, they provide "Links"
that are not related and can be viewed by the major search engines as "Spamming"
and can adversely affect your page ranking and penalize your site.
